Frontend Web Application Developer

Our client, a mission-driven data collection platform used by humanitarian and research organizations around the world, is hiring a Frontend Web Application Developer. You will work in a large, long-lived React and TypeScript codebase, improve it with modern practices and help the people who use it in challenging field conditions.

35 to 40 hours per week on US Eastern business hours, with a commitment of at least one year.

• Read and understand an extensive, long-lived codebase and its conventions.
• Suggest and make improvements aligned with current best practices.
• Write robust, reusable code with tests and documentation.
• Review other developers' code and act on feedback.
• Use AI-assisted development tools while staying responsible for quality.
• Investigate bug reports and deliver well-scoped fixes.
• Scope, estimate and organize work, and join regular team check-ins.
• Talk with users through forums and issue trackers alongside the support team.

• Professional experience building API-driven single-page applications.
• Proficiency with TypeScript and React, including styling, state management and data exchange over HTTP.
• Comfortable working with legacy Backbone and CoffeeScript code.
• Recent experience giving and receiving code reviews.
• Fluent with Git and able to set up a local development environment independently.
• At least 30 hours per week of overlap with US Eastern time.

• Docker and Docker Compose.
• Python with Django and Django REST Framework.
• Building user-facing LLM features.
• Stripe payment integration.
• Experience with survey and mobile data collection tools.
