Member of Technical Staff, Engineering

Our client, a well-funded AI research startup applying AI to scientific discovery in the physical sciences, is hiring senior engineers to build its platform. The platform spans distributed systems, data infrastructure, agent systems and evaluation, high-performance and scientific computing, cloud infrastructure and security. Engineers own their work from spec to ship to on-call.

• Build platform infrastructure at the intersection of AI systems, scientific computing and software engineering.
• Own systems end to end, from specification through release and on-call.
• Write contracts before logic, test against real systems and favor simple designs that ship.
• Work daily with AI-assisted and agentic development tools.
• Shape where you have the most impact across distributed systems, data, agents, HPC, developer platforms or security.

• A track record of shipping substantive engineering work: systems that mattered, open source others depend on or infrastructure that lasted.
• Depth in several of: distributed systems, data infrastructure, agent systems and evaluation, HPC, developer platforms, cloud infrastructure or security.
• Able to walk through a hard technical decision, the tradeoffs and what you would change.
• Genuine interest in AI applied to physical science.
• Based in or willing to work from Boston; remote considered case by case.
