Systems Administrator — Linux / RHEL

Bluu Kazi is seeking an experienced Linux Systems Administrator to manage, secure, and optimize enterprise Linux infrastructure. The ideal candidate has hands-on expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux, system automation using Bash and Ansible, performance monitoring, and DISA STIG compliance. This role involves maintaining system reliability, troubleshooting complex issues, and supporting secure, mission-critical IT environments.
Responsibilities
- Perform system administration for RHEL 8.x/9.x — setup, configuration, and ongoing maintenance.
- Maintain RHEL, ESXi, and Windows operating systems; create templated server images, snapshots and clones; manage storage and monitor logs.
- Execute system backup and recovery operations to ensure data protection and high availability.
- Monitor and analyze system performance to identify and resolve bottlenecks.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments using Tenable, ACAS, and similar platforms.
- Apply critical and recommended patches and upgrades for system switches, firewalls, and SANs.
- Install and manage SIEM monitoring agents and maintain STIG compliance.
- Prepare regular security and operational reports supporting NIST 800-53 auditing.
- Participate in disaster recovery failover testing and system/database backup testing.
Required Skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with seven or more years as a Linux/Red Hat administrator — degree not required.
- Hands-on RHEL administration in production, including systemd, LVM, SELinux, and yum/dnf package management.
- Shell scripting (bash) and at least basic Ansible playbook authoring.
- Experience applying DISA STIGs to Linux hosts and remediating scan findings.
Nice to Have
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
- Red Hat Satellite, Ansible Tower/AAP, and Kickstart provisioning.
- Oracle 19c, MS SQL Server, Apache Tomcat, or JBoss administration.
- CompTIA Security+ CE for DoD-facing work.
